Prevent Pimples With These 5 Lifestyle Changes

Prevent Pimples With These 5 Lifestyle Changes
1. Stop letting stress control you. Learn to control it instead. Compartmentalise your work life and personal life and aim for a healthy balance. Block a few hours of the day to do the things you enjoy, even if it is as simple as reading a book, playing with your kids, or watching television mindlessly. Get at least 7-8 hours of sleep.
2. Work out. It could be in any form – light low impact exercises, heavy strength training, yoga or even walking or running your dog. Exercise goads the body to release feel good chemicals called endorphins, which trigger feelings of positivity.
3. Eat mindfully. Remember mom’s warnings about too much sugar and junk food? She was right! Simple carbohydrates convert into sugar which creates an imbalance in hormones. Healthy foods such as wholegrains, veggies and herbal teas are more beneficial to the body and also up your energy and health quotient.
4. Get up close with Omega-3. They control the production of leukotriene B4 which can cause inflammatory acne. Omega-3 is also a great antioxidant and protects your body from harmful UV rays.
5. Drink up.Staying hydrated all day through with at least 2-3 litres of water flushes out toxins, metabolizes the food you eat and boosts blood flow.

5 Shea Butter Benefits That Will Compel You To Use It On Your Skin & Face

Why Every Woman Must Use Shea Butter
Shea butter is extracted from the seeds of the fruit that grows on Karite trees, which are mainly found in Africa. It is in the form of solid fatty oil and in its raw form, looks like scoops of hard caramel ice cream. No wonder that certain communities use it even for food preparations.
In the world of beauty, shea butter has become widely popular for its extraordinary ability to not only protect the skin against everyday environmental damage, but also repair and renew it.

Here are some shea butter benefits that actually make a difference!

Shea Butter heals: Most soaps and oils convert into soap (saponification) when they come in contact with alkali. Shea butter does not as it contains oil soluble fatty acids and plant sterols such as oleic, palmitic, stearic and linolenic acids which stand their own ground. This intensifies its healing potential especially for burns, cuts, rashes insect bites and eczema. Not just that, shea butter is a great friend of athletes and sportspersons as it also eliminates toxins which cause muscle fatigue. So give yourself a good rubdown post your workout so as to not compromise on your workout the next day.
Shea Butter protects: The antioxidants in shea butter keep cells protected from damaging free radicals and other environmental hazards whilst cinnamic acid esters in the shea fat keep ultraviolet radiation at bay. Your skin will never look dull again.

Shea butter for skin

Unsaturated fats with copious amounts of non-saponifiable components, essential fatty acids, vitamins E and D, phytosterols, provitamin A and allantoin…these are the ingredients for picture perfect skin and you’ll get all these benefits from shea butter. These ingredients also makes it a natural moisturizer which keeps the skin’s protective oils where it should be, right inside the skin!
Anti-ageing benefits: Youthful skin is just a dab away. Take advantage of the vitamin A and E that shea butter possesses to preserve your skin’s radiance and softness. Shea butter gives collagen production a gentle push to retain skin’s youthful looks.
Pro Tip - If you don’t have time to make Shea Butter face mask for youthful skin, use Olay Total Effects Night cream which may be able to address your skin ageing concerns.

Get Youthful Looking Skin With This Skin Care Routine For Your 30s

Get The Skin Of Your 20s In Your 30s With This Skincare Regime

You know you’ve hit the 30s when your skin isn’t as taut as it used to be and wrinkles make their debut on your face. But the best part is, signs of ageing can be managed and even reversed; all you have to do is follow this routine created especially for skin care in 30s.
  1. Begin your skin care routine with a cleanser; it really helps take off any residual makeup and dirt. Olay Regenerist Cream Cleanser is a good choice, as it fights the signs of ageing effectively.
  2. The next step in your routine is to use a cleansing brush. Using a cleaning brush has dual benefits; it extracts the dirt that is clogging your pores and it also exfoliates your skin.
  3. Follow that up with a toner; it helps rid your skin of any oil and makeup that your cleanser missed. Most times, cleansers include toners but if yours doesn’t, then you can always use a toner separately post cleansing.
  4. Now that your skin has been thoroughly cleansed and toned, give it some serum treatment. The advantage of using a serum is that it will dramatically increase the efficiency of any skincare products you may be using. What’s more, it improves your skin’s overall health by boosting its moisture quotient as well as its collagen-producing ability. Use it twice a day, once in the morning and once at night.
  5. Post giving your skin some good serum treatment it’s time to use a face mask. If you’re going to use a face mask during the day, do so before you moisturize and after you apply serum. If you’re planning on leaving it on all night then do not put anything on your face after you put on the mask.
  6. That done, now use a nourishing creamy moisturizer that is made especially for usage on your face.
  7. Your eyes are where the first signs of ageing usually make an appearance. Do a little research to find out the best anti-ageing cream for 30s and the best night cream for 30s. Olay Total Effects 7 in One Day Cream is a tried and tested choice by many women.
  8. The final step in your skin care routine would be to use a facial peel. Using a peel helps exfoliate you skin allowing a new layer of skin to emerge. Every peel worth its salt should contain either glycolic acid, hyaluronic acid or salicylic acid to give your skin that beautiful radiance you deserve!

Shampoo your hair like an expert

Shampoo your hair like an expert

Admit it, we’re way harsh on our hair – especially in the shower. And while we may all feel like we’re shampooing experts, there are a few tips you can do to maximize cleansing and minimize hair damage. Here’s how to turn getting clean into getting gorgeous.
  1. Detangle before Washing: Don’t even think about stepping into the shower with tangled hair! Hair is the weakest when it’s wet because it swells up and stretches, meaning it can break much more easily. By gently detangling with a wide-tooth comb while your hair is dry, you’ll minimize breakage.
  2. Shampoo like an Expert: Take it from the top down. To prevent new tangles, apply shampoo to hair roots where styling residue and oil tend to accumulate, and work it through to the ends, moving in the same direction as the water. Frantically rubbing hair into a big rats nest may be your go-to routine, but it can lead to snarls that even the most moisturizing shampoo can’t fix. Start shampooing at the roots and work your way through the length of your hair to avoid the knots and minimize damage. Consider a second round of shampoo if the bubbles don’t last through the first wash. Excess oil and dirt kill bubbles. If the foam doesn’t last, you know your hair isn’t fully clean.
  3. Conditioning 101: Unlike shampooing, apply conditioner from the bottom, up. After rinsing out the shampoo, apply conditioner to the ends of your hair, and work your way to the roots. Then, use your fingers or a wide-tooth comb in the shower to gently comb hair starting at the ends, moving up the length of the hair. Continue your showering routine while the conditioner sits on your hair before you rinse it out last.
  4. Blot, Don’t Rub: Gently blot the extra moisture from your locks with a dry towel or even microfiber cloth. If you rub vigorously, you’ll create tangles by roughing up the cuticles, setting your hair up for frizz. Use a wide-tooth comb or paddle brush to get your hair ready for styling.

Nail Art a Home

  1. Crystals Coat your nails and stick tiny stones or crystals on it, while its still wet.
  2. Funky Glitter: Mix loose glitter with nail gel or clear polish and apply it to your nails. Once dry apply a transparent nail enamel on the top and there you have that sparkle! it goes well with any party attire.

  3. French Tips: Set a French manicure sticker across your nail, leaving the tip exposed; apply a base coat. Remove the sticker while its still wet, let it dry and finish off with a neutral nail varnish.
  4. Polka Dots: Polka dots are simple and versatile. On a base coat of nail paint, make dots using a contrasting color so that it is visible.
  5. Beaded Nails: Get nails beads from the market. They are available in various shapes, sizes and colors. Apply the base coat with whichever color you want and once it's dry stick the beads making your own pattern of flowers, stars or random designs. Don't forget to cover it up with transparent enamel as this helps in preventing the beads form falling off.
  6. Newspaper Print: Apply a base coat of grey nail paint. Dip your fingers in the rubbing alcohol for about 30 sec and then press a piece of newspaper on the nail till its print comes on the nail. Let it dry for a few minutes and cover with the transparent enamel and it's done!
  7. Floral Design: Apply the base coat color. Once its dry, use a thin-tipped brush or toothpick to place groups of five dots arranged in circles on your nails. These are the petals. Once the petal dots are dry, use their color to paint a simple circle in the center of the petal dots. You can add extra detail by placing a tiny white stripe in the center of the petals, or creating leaves with green nail polish. When the flower designs are dry, apply a clear top coat.

9 Tricks for Conquering Liquid Eyeliner

Does this sound familiar: Apply foundation, attempt liquid liner, screw it up, remove everything, settle on a statement lip. If you have a love-hate relationship with the glossy ink (as in, love the dramatic look, hate actually applying it), try these simple strategies from makeup artist Daniel Martin.
1. Choose the right tool for your skill set. If you're a liquid liner rookie, a felt-tip marker with a superfine point like Dior Diorshow Art Pen is the easiest to control, says celebrity makeup artist Daniel Martin. "It's like the training wheels of eyeliner." If you're advanced—or going for a graphic look—a brush-tip applicator is your best bet. It requires a bit more precision and patience, he warns, but the razor-thin lines you get are worth it.
2. Hold your eyeliner near the end. This simple switch that makes all the difference. "Gripping the eyeliner further up puts too much pressure on the tip, which can make the liner jagged or goopy," says Martin.
3. Tilt your chin up slightly. Then look down into the mirror so you're eyes are halfway closed. It may feel counterintuitive, but this angle helps prevent liner from smearing all over your lid and looking uneven once it's on.
4. Apply liner after shadow. "Powder shadows act as a magnet for liquid liners to stick to," explains Martin, which means less slipping and smudging throughout the day. If you're using a cream formula, prep lids with a primer first.
5. Give yourself a guideline. For those with shaky-hands, use a creamy pencil to sketch a line first. Once you've got the right shape, trace over it with a liquid formula for depth and definition.
6. Do short strokes. Rather than attempting to line your eyes in one fell swoop, try drawing tiny dashes along your top lashes and connecting them into one solid stroke. Another smart technique: holding your eyeliner horizontally (so it's parallel to the floor) and running it sideways against your lash line.
7. Use a slanted brush for perfect cat eyes. It's your best friend when you're trying to free-hand symmetrical, foolproof flicks, says Martin. His how-to: Dip the brush into a liquid or gel pigment and place it along the outer corner of your eye; drag the brush in on a diagonal to create your wing. Then finish lining your lid and fill in any holes to complete the look.
8. Clean up smudges the right way. To fix mistakes or refine edges without messing up the rest of your makeup, opt for a pointed cotton swab soaked in cleansing water, says Martin, who recommends Dr. Jart+ Dermaclear Micro Water. "It's not greasy and won't tug on the delicate eye skin."
9. Don't forget to tightline. It's the secret to making liner look polished. Do it by gently lifting your lid and wiggling the liner in between your lashes as close to the root as possible. Add some mascara and you're done.

Getting Rid of Blackheads

orange peel
I think blackheads are ugly and they imply that the person doesn't take care of herself seriously. I find them a complete put off and a reflection of uncleanliness. Blackheads are hardened sebum in the skin pores that are a result of improper cleaning and neglecting skincare routine. Most people forget that no matter what, your skin needs to be of good quality and that takes discipline and regular care. There is no gain without pain. So work on your skin and you will see it show results sooner than you think. If the blackheads are very deep, it is advisable to get them cleaned out professionally, at least once every four weeks.
Besides this, take orange peel powder and mix with rose water and scrub on the blackhead prone areas and gently squeeze them out with a towel after washing the scrub off.

10 Amazingly Simple Ways to Lighten Your Hair Naturally

10 Amazingly Simple Ways to Lighten Your Hair Naturally

1. Rhubarb Rinse

This amazing plant from the ancient times has got a root that can work wonders as a lightening agent for light brown and blond tresses. The reason behind the same is the presence of oxalic acid in the root that works as a fixative and makes the rhubarb rinse last really long. The root contains emodin and chrysophanic acid, which are natural dyes binding to keratin in your locks.
All you have to get from the health stores is some chopped and dried rhubarb root. You can even get the root right from your garden if you grow the same, followed by scrubbing and dicing it. Take a stainless steel pot and begin by simmering 3-4 tablespoons of the dried root in a quart of water. Let the mixture steep overnight, followed by straining it using a sieve in the morning.
To make sure you like the color, test the dye on a strand of hair, and then rinse your hair with the mixture once you have washed them with a shampoo. You can pour it several times to get the desired color, and finally rinse your hair with water. Dry your hair in the sun to make the color come out gracefully. You will achieve a soft, golden color, while experiencing a lovely conditioning effect on your tresses.

2. Chamomile Tea

There’s something special about chamomile which makes it so widely used round the world for centuries. Not only does chamomile tea treats dandruff troubles, but also helps your hair grow quicker and shinier with a golden element to them. Those with blonde hair will experience a unique radiance and brightness to their hair after treating them with chamomile, while brown hair will turn 2- 3 shades lighter. You can either go for a chamomile rinse or apply it as a hair mask.
To go for a chamomile rinse, you need to take 2-3 cups of water and add about 4 chamomile tea bags to the same once you boil the water. Let the solution cool and remove the tea bags. Wash your hair with a shampoo and apply conditioner as you always do, followed by rinsing your hair with the cooled tea solution. Allow your hair to dry while leaving the mixture in them.
If you want to apply chamomile hair mask, take 6 chamomile tea bags, half cup of yogurt and 2 tablespoons of grape juice. Dip the tea bags in a cup of boiled water, allow it to cool and remove the bags. Mix yogurt and grape juice to the solution, followed by washing your hair with a shampoo and conditioner. Once your hair get dry, apply the tea mask from root to the tip, emphasizing on the dry sections of your scalp. Cover your head for 15-20 minutes with a shower cap, and then rinse them using lukewarm water and a bit of shampoo. Lastly, wash them with cold water. Repeat the process twice a week to achieve your desired hair tone.

3. Baking Soda

There’s no doubt that baking soda has got some amazing uses in the daily life, but did you know that this kitchen staple also helps to lighten your hair naturally? Plus, it also gets your locks rid of all harmful chemicals and toxins.
Add enough water to a teaspoon of baking soda to make a paste in a bowl. Make sure the mixture is not too thick or too dilute to let it cover the hair properly. Massage the blend onto your scalp and throughout the hair, further letting it stay for 15-20 minutes. You can also apply the mixture on strips of hair, covering them with foil paper if you are looking to get highlights. Finally, wash off your hair with cold water.
Combining baking soda with a shampoo yields a hair-lightening shampoo which can help you accelerate the lightning process if applied daily. All you need to do is mix equal amounts of the two right when you are ready to wash your hair. Wet them and apply the mixture on your hair, letting it sit for a few minutes under running warm water. Rinse the mixture thoroughly.
The treatment may leave your hair a little dry, so apply a good conditioner once you are done with the washing. Baking soda shampoo lightens your hair gradually, and create soft highlights instead of a strong color. Once you get the color you want, use the mixture only once a week to work on the roots.

4. Salt Spray

You must have witnessed those lovely tresses of the surfers going from darker shades to light tones, and even ending up in a bright blonde. What causes this marvelous effect is the action of the sea salt and sun on their hair, making it oh so charming. But, you can get that done at home almost effortlessly.
All you need to do is spray warm salt water on your hair. But, you must make sure to use some coconut oil or regular oil on your hair to lighten them without getting them all dry as salt steals away the moisture from the hair.
Add some salt in hot water and stir the solution, followed by letting it cool down a little. Shampoo your hair and let them dry, further pouring in the salt solution covering the hair thoroughly. Towel dry the tresses and make sure you don’t rinse them. If you have thick or curly hair, rub a tablespoon oil in your hands and cover your hair with the same. Finally, bask in the sun to achieve a lighter color.
The hair that take little time to get all dry and get a lot of exposure are likely to bleach out the maximum. Once they are dry, wet your hair again using the salt water solution. When you get the highlights that you want, you can stop doing the same, and finally, condition your hair.

5. Olive Oil

Most of us are well aware of the fact that olive oil is a miraculous hair conditioner, but what’s less known is that it is an equally wonderful lightening agent as well. It flaunts great moisturizing properties that make it worthy enough of getting a spot in your bathroom to let your hair get stronger and healthier.
Take a good amount of olive oil and comb it through your hair, further heading outside to let them stay in the sun for about an hour. Wash out the oil, and you will find your hair much more moisturized and of course, naturally lighter in color. To make it work even better, you can add a little lemon juice to the oil before combing it to your hair. Repeat thrice every week until you see the highlights you wish for.
Another method is to mix one-fourth cup of honey and the same amount of olive oil together and warm the same for a few minutes. Apply in the sections where you want the highlights and let it stay for about an hour. Five minutes earlier to washing your hair, apply it throughout the hair and focusing on the ends. Finally, wash out the oil thoroughly.
You will be happy to know that olive oil will also help you manage brittle ends or frizzy hair just like a piece of cake, making them really soft and shinier.

6. Lemon Juice

Here comes the most popular and simply method to lighten your hair, lemon juice, which is perfect for blonde tresses as well as darker hair – all credits to the presence of citric acid. But, this method must only be used when you are planning to spend the whole day outdoors. The sun will help to bleach your strands by opening the cuticles and allowing the lemon juice to lift their color.
Add a cup of lemon juice and about one-fourth cup of warm water and mix them well. Spray the mixture onto your hair, while making sure that you add ample amounts of the same around the roots. Stay in the sunlight for a good deal of time to allow citric acid to lighten your hair naturally. Until you achieve the desired results, you must reapply the mixture and bask in the sun once per hour. However, you should not stay in the sunlight for more than a half and hour in one go to avoid overexposing your hair.
Wash out after you are done in the sunlight, or you can also leave the lemon juice in your hair overnight. The juice will lead to some dryness, so make sure you moisturize and condition your tresses before and after the process. What’s great about lemon juice is that it lightens dark blond or light brown hair without leaving any reddish tones.

7. Raw Honey

Honey is one awesome natural hair dry that not only lightens your hair beautifully, bu also saves a great deal of dollars you would otherwise spend on artificial treatments. Raw honey contains glucose oxidase, which results in the production of hydrogen peroxide that works as a great bleaching agent for your lovely locks.
To try the remedy at home, what you need to gather is some honey that’s rich in hydrogen peroxide, along with some distilled water. combine water and honey in a bowl in 1 to 4 ratio. Let the mixture sit at room temperature for about an hour. Take an applicator bottle, fill it with the mixture, and apply it all over your wet tresses. You can also brush it over selective sections for highlights using a hard makeup brush.
It is quite significant to keep your hair wet all the time when you have applied honey to them in order to keep the bleaching action of hydrogen peroxide going. It is advised to use a shower cap for the same, and wait for an hour to let the honey do all the magic. Rinse the mixture out using some conditioner, and voila ! It’s all about you and your gorgeous locks.

8. Cinnamon

Another all natural hair lightening mask loved by beauty experts is cinnamon that changes your hair color with a great element of minimalism, while keeping things totally safe. And yes, it has got an amazing fragrance to it as well. Being natural sunscreen, it will not only make your hair silky and soft, but will also protect them from the harmful effects of the sun rays.
Add some cinnamon powder to about half cup of conditioner, making a thick paste of the two ingredients. Take a wide toothed comb and apply the mix onto your tresses, followed by twisting your hair into a nice bun. You can leave it on for about 3-4 hours before rinsing, or can even put on a shower cap and let it sit for the whole night. The longer you leave it, the better the results. Finally, wash the solution from your hair.
A key point to note here is that cinnamon doesn’t showcase very drastic results in the very first application, and you must be willing to be a little patient while going for cinnamon to lighten your hair. However, it will surely lighten them up to 2 tones with gradual application, ending up in some spectacular results and super smooth hair.

9. Vitamin C

Vitamin C sports a lovely softening effect on your hair as well as can lighten your hair for quite a long time. It opens the hair cuticles to bring the effect to life, and works great when used in the form of a solution. Additionally, it can speed up the lightening effect of the sun on your tresses.
You can find Vitamin C tablets easily available at most health stores, that too at a very budget-friendly price. What you need to do is place about 15-20 tablets in a Ziploc bag and use something heavy yet sturdy enough to transform the tablets into a fine powder. Mix the powder with a good amount of shampoo in a bowl (for medium length, it is advised to use about one-fourth cop of shampoo). Apply the paste onto your tresses using an applicator brush or your hands. Make a bun and cover your head with a shower cap, leaving the paste in your hair for about 2 hours before finally rinsing and conditioning it well.
While you wash your hair, you will be actually able to see the color going down the drain. What happens is that the paste opens your cuticle layer and the action of the shampoo washes away maximum of the color molecules accumulated into the hair shaft. Isn’t it quite an interesting thing to hear about, let alone actually experiencing it !

If you are looking for getting oh so thick, long and shiny hair, you would love the effect that henna can have on your tresses. The ingredient can be readily found in the stores, but you must make sure you are buying natural henna to get reliable and safe results. It showcases stunning end results when applied in coordination with some yogurt. So you begin by mixing the powder henna with yogurt to achieve a good consistency, followed by letting it sit overnight. In the morning, separate your hair into thinner sections using plastic gloves and clip away the top section of those divisions. Apply the henna and yogurt blend advancing towards the bottom area from the top. Make sure you wipe off the mix if it gets on your forehead to avoid any staining of the skin. After the application, wrap a piece of cloth around your head, covering all the hair. Leave the mixture on for about an hour before rinsing it out thoroughly. If you wish for a stronger color, you can always apply it again and leave it a little longer before washing your hair with some water, followed by applying a good shampoo for color treated tresses.
You must not use henna that has got chemicals in it or is black in color. Before applying it to all your hair, you can test its action on a small section and determine the time for which you should leave it in your tresses for getting your choice of color.
It’s surely no less than a miracle to achieve gorgeous natural highlights without exposing your hair to harsh chemicals, while cutting on some extra hair-treatments costs at the same time. And, when getting pretty tresses has been made such a surprisingly easy to achieve task with the aforesaid remedies to lighten your hair naturally, why wait to get the color of your dreams ?

honey-therapy
